Webcast: Robotic Surgery in the Management of Gynecologic Malignancies

Since the late 1980s, there have been significant advancements in the development and implementation of minimally invasive surgical procedures for patients with gynecologic malignancies. Laparoscopy is now available for most patients with endometrial and cervical cancer. The development of robotic surgery, also known as computer-assisted surgery, has expanded the role of minimally invasive surgical applications for gynecologic malignancies since receiving FDA approval in 2005. M. Patrick Lowe, MD will discuss the benefits of robotic surgery for the surgeon and also for the patient.

is a gynecologic oncologist on the medical staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He also is director of the Gynecologic Oncology Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery Program and an assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.
